Once upon a time there was a beast. He was a fine and masterful beast, king of all he surveyed. His land was vast, his forests deep, dark and beautiful...The land was full of gardens, waterfalls, alive with trees, flowers and small animals of every kind. These animals were very pleasing to the beast,as they would play and entertain the beast. He especially liked the faeries and forest nymphs. They were very playful and would flutter around with the butterflies...But something was missing for the beast in his wonderous, vast land.He longed for companionship and love.He longed for a mate who would truly accept him and all he believed in...He wanted to share all of his magical, enchanted land with someone. But who?He searched and searched, but could never find the love he so desperately needed. The understanding and devotion he demanded. The obedience he required.Until one day when the beast awoke in an exceptionally happy mood. For some reason he was filled with anticipation. As he walked through a long and winding path in the forest he spied something out of the corner of his eye.A flash! A blur of white! A sudden melodic chord! "Hmmmm"....he thought."I have never heard such sweet, enthralling music...I must hear more!"...The beast then began to hunt for the elusive creature and her sweet, harmonic melody. He just had to hear it again and see for himself what made such a sound that could cause him this desire to draw near...He ran and ran,but could only barely hear the low refrain. Then,as he came upon a clearing,he saw something. As he approached,it became clearer and clearer.Pure white, almost crystalline feathered wings, embedded with small sparkling gemstones and diamonds...The wings were curved ever so carefully over,a creature, covering her completely..."Arise,"said the beast. The creature remained unmoving."Arise now,"he commanded."You must obey!"...Just then the creature revealed herself in all her beauty. As she unfurled her wings the beast could see all her inner beauty enveloped in the glow...She spread them wide open, until the whole clearing was luminescent...Small creatures and elves came from everywhere to see what the beautiful aura was from...And as they did,the beast came forward and slowly approached the creature, the most beautiful angel of his dreams...He knew in an instant that this was the being he had longed to share his vast and unending land with...This was the creature he could share all his secrets with and she would understand...At that moment, the beast stood in all his glory and extended his huge and masterful hand to the lovely angel who all at once lay her heart and soul in his care...Together they strolled into the deepest part of the forest, where only sound that can be heard is that of the mighty waterfall which lay in the center of the land, where the beast had lived all alone in his castle...But now,the castle is alive with a melody known only to the beast and his angel....sweet and fulfilling...it is the music of their love.

DISTANCE - a poem by Marianna Hurta
The mountains between us, The heavens above, Cannot truly separate our love. For true love soars above the clouds, Above the mountains, Where the air is clear and crisp, And invigorates and then, Drops down into our hearts again.

Sonnet 35 - William Shakespeare
No more be grieved for that which thou hast done,Roses have thorns,And silver fountains mud,Clouds and eclipses stain both moon and sun,and loathesome canker lives in sweetest bud....All men have faults, and even i in this,Authorizing thy trespass with compare,Myself corrupting, salving thy amiss,Excusing thy sins more than thy sins are....For to thy sensual fault bring I in sense,Thy adverse party is thy advocate? And 'gainst myself a lawful plea commence,Such civil war is in my love and hate,...That I am accessory needs must be,To that sweet thief which sourly robs from me.
